Antigua's duty-free shops are at Heritage Quay; they're the reason so many cruise ships call here. Bargains can be found on perfumes, liqueurs and liquor (including, of course, Antiguan rum), jewelry, china, and crystal. As for other local items, look for straw hats, baskets, batik, pottery, and hand-printed cotton clothing.
In addition to the shops of Heritage Quay, Redcliffe Quay, and elsewhere, there are the offerings of vendors, so many of whom clutter the streets of St. Johns, disrupting traffic and pestering tourists, that the government has constructed a three-story Vendors' Mall at the intersection of Redcliffe.
